Storing an Experiment in the Camel Database

The general tab contains areas to help describe the experiment(s) that are being entered into the Camel database.

Spectrometer - The spectrometer is automatically detected by Camel.
Keywords - A list of comma delimited keywords can be used to help categorize the experiment(s).
Data Location - The data location is a description of where the spectral data is stored. Camel does not have the space to store actual spectra so it needs to be saved in a more conventional way.
Suites - The suite name is the name of the directory that the numbered experiment directories reside in. It first sets the suite name to be the selected experiment in the directory tree on the top of the panel. This can be changed either by typing a new name or by selecting a suite in the pulldown. The pulldown is loaded by selecting the Search for Suites menu item or by selecting the approprate button in the button bar.
Privilege - The privileges can be set to Private, Group, or Public. Private experiments are only viewable by yourself. Group experiments are only viewable by people who are members to the group that the experiment resides in. Public experiments are viewable by everyone.
Group Name - This is the name of the group that the experiment resides in. You can only add experiments to groups of which you are a member.
Sample # - You can attach a sample created in Jar by selecting the Assign Sample menu item in the Submit menu or by selecting the approprate button.
Experiment Info - This is where you can attach additional information about the experiment.

Switch to the Submit Experiment view by selecting Submit Experiment from the "Options" menu. This displays a tree on the top which will show the directory structure on the spectrometer and a panel on the bottom for entering information on the experiment.

The main directory which contains suites should be the root of the tree. If this is not the case, choose the proper base directory by selecting Set Experiment Directory from the "Submit" menu or by selecting the button in the toolbar.

Select the experiment or suite of experiments by selecting the directory in the tree. The files to be uploaded will then be displayed in the Selected Experiments tab. Selecting a file in the experiment desciption will display the information in the text area to the right.

Camel Interface

Now enter the information for the experiment by selecting the General tab. Fill out the comma delimited keywords, the location of the data, the suite name, the access privileges, the group name, a sample from Jar, and information about the experiment. After the information has been entered, submit the experiment by selecting Submit Experiment from the "Submit" menu or by selecting the button in the toolbar.

A dialog will pop up when the submission is complete.

Camel also scans for Felix macros and nmrpipe scripts. If a directory called "felix" exists within an numbered directory, Camel will scan through the directory and attach all files with a .mac suffix. If a directory called "nmrpipe" exists, Camel will scan through the directory and attach all files with a .pip suffix.
