SESAME

Rights and Responsibilities of the Lab Master

The Lab Master designation is applied to any user who has created a Sesame lab group. In addition to controlling the membership of the group (through both inviting and deleting users), the Lab Master also is responsible for defining the Lab Resources that all group members use when entering data into Sesame. Most of these resources will be used to populate the pull down menus found in various record types (a few of the resources are more complex and will be discussed on the next page). The majority of these lab resources are organized in tables where the Lab Master can added or delete entries. The Lab Master accesses the different resources through the Options pull down menu.

Protease Cleavage Lab Resource

The table below outlines the different types of list-style resources, the views in Sheherazade to which they apply and the type of entries that the Lab Master should make. More complex resources will be dealt with on the following page.

With one exception, the Systems Recources list contains a set of table that apply to all lab groups using Sesame and can only be modified by the Sesame Administrator (and not by individual Lab Masters). For more information on System Resources or requested changes, contact your local Sesame Administrator. The Bulk load option is active for Lab Masters. Using options found in the Bulk Load menu, Lab Masters can add or update scores associated with specific targets or add database references. Scores are attached to ORFs through uploading a comma separated value (CSV) file with the format:

ORF ID, score
GO.1, 1234567890
GO.2, 1345678900
etc

Where the GO.xxx number is the ORF number of the target. Note that the first line of the CSV file should be a header and will be ignored by Sesame. The target score will be unique to every group. For an example of one type of target score visit the Bioinformatics section of the web site for the Center for Eukaryotic Structural Genomics.

Lab Masters can also add database references to specific targets. References are attached to ORFs through uploading a comma separated value (CSV) file with the format:

ORF ID, database, database id
GO.1, PDB, 1RJJ
GO.2, PDB, 1T0G
GO.2, BMRB, 6138
etc

Where the GO.xxx number is the ORF number of the target. Note that the first line of the CSV file should be a header and will be ignored by Sesame. Any number of references can be added to an ORF.
