Recording the Results of a Screen

Well Results TreeIn addition to being used to define a screen, Well can also be used to record the results of the screen on a droplet by droplet basis. To record the presence of a crystal, the user must highlight the relevant droplet within the screen droplet table and select the Add Result Assessment function from the Edit menu. A pop up box will appear containing the result template as defined by the lab master (this template can contain descriptors for any property of the expected crystals). The user then selects the appropriate descriptors (clicking on an already selected item deselects that item). Clicking OK transmits the results selections to the database. The user may then proceed to the next droplet containing a crystal. Multiple entries can be made for a single droplet.

Viewing the Entered ResultsAfter a result has been entered into the database, all lab members can access that information by highlighting the droplet of interest and selecting View Result Assessment. A pop up box appears containing all of the result assessments for that droplet. All entries are stamped with the date and time of entry as well as the username of the person who submitted the entry. Only those descriptors that were chosen by the user are visible in the pop up box. At any time, a user can delete any entry associated with their own user name (but cannot delete any other user's entries). Simply highlight the user/date stamp and select Delete Result Assessment from the Edit menu.
