Register a New Sesame User

  • In order to use any Sesame Applications, you must become a registered Sesame User.

Short Registration Fields

  • Username is your chosen username.
  • Password is your chosen password.
  • Password (Retry) is your chosen password, once more.
  • Family Name is your last name.
  • Given Name is your first name.
  • Middle Initials are your middle initials.
  • Email Address is your email address.
  • Department is the department of the organization you work for or using Sesame with.
  • Organization is where you work or the organization you are using Sesame with.

Long Registration Fields

  • Username is your chosen username.
  • Password is your chosen password.
  • Password (Retry) is your chosen password, once more.
  • Family Name is your last name.
  • Given Name is your first name.
  • Middle Initials are your middle initials.
  • Family Title is your family title, e.g., Jr., Sr., II, etc.
  • Salutation is the preferred salutation, e.g. Miss, Mr., Dr., etc.
  • Degree is the degree you have, e.g. B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D., etc.
  • Organization is where you work or the organization you are using Sesame with.
  • Organization Type is the type of the organization you work for or using Sesame with.
  • Department is the department of the organization you work for or using Sesame with.
  • Email Address is your email address.
  • Phone(s) are your work or contact phone number(s).
  • Fax is your fax number.
  • Street is the Street from your contact address.
  • City is the City from your contact address.
  • State is the State from your contact address.
  • Zip Code is the Zip Code from your contact address.
  • Country is the Country from your contact address.

Register

This registers a new Sesame User.

  1. Start a desired Sesame Application.
  2. Click Register in the Options menu, or click the New button in the button bar.
  3. Fill out the fields in the Registration popup.
  4. Click Register.

Note

  • For security reasons, the password fields do not show the characters that the user types. Instead, they display a character different from the one typed, usually an asterisk (*) or a dot (.).
  • If a field is not applicable, leave it empty.
  • If a required field has been left empty, an error message will be shown.
  • The maximum length of the Username is 32 characters.
  • The Usernames in a Sesame instance are unique. If you have picked one already taken, the system will let you know.
  • The length of the Password is not limited.
  • Make sure that your Email is correct, otherwise you will not receive the registration message..

General Comments

  • Users only need to register once. You can use the Username you created during registration to access all Sesame Applications.
  • A Sesame User may update or make additions to their registration information by editing their User Profile.
  • During the registration, every Sesame User becomes a member of the 'World' Lab.
  • The plain-text version of the Password never leaves the client computer.
  • Only the MD5 encrypted version of the Password travels over the Net, and is stored in the Sesame database.
  • A forgotten Password can not be recovered, but it can be reset.
  • To reset a forgotten Password, contact a Sesame Administrator.
