Lab Resources Plates
-
List of different Plates which may be used.
-
The upper part of the Plate window is the Search Result window.
Users are able to search through the records of the Default Lab based on a variety of criteria.
The Plate records fitting the search criteria are then returned within the Search Result window.
The bottom part of the window will show all the data for the selected Plate.

Item No is the Plate No.
-
Title is the Name.
-
The bottom part of the Plate window shows all the data for the Plate selected
in the upper part of the Plate window.
-
Plate No is the unique database number in a Sesame instance for the Plate.
-
Name is the name of the Plate.
-
No of Rows is the number of rows on the Plate.
-
No of Columns is the number of columns on the Plate.
-
Row Label is the labeling type for rows on the Plate.
-
1, 2, 3 ... for numerical labels.
-
A, B, C ... for alphabetical labels.
-
Column Label is the labeling type for columns on the Plate.
-
1, 2, 3 ... for numerical labels.
-
A, B, C ... for alphabetical labels.
-
Makers No is the manufacturer's identifier for the Plate.
-
Created By Date is the User Name of the person who created the Plate,
and the date and time of the event.
-
Modified By Date is the User Name of the person who last modified the Plate,
and the date and time of the event.
-
Lab Name is the current Default Lab.
-
Status is the Lab Resources Status for the Plate.
-
Type is the Lab Resources Type for the Plate.
-
Choosable sets if the Plate is selectable in other Views.
-
Images are the images attached to the Plate.
-
Image No is the unique database number in a Sesame instance for the Image.
-
User Name is the User Name of the person who added the Image to the Plate.
-
Date And Time is the date and time when the Image was added to the Plate.
-
File Name is the file name of the Image.
-
User Label is the user label of the Image.
-
Files are the files attached to the Plate.
-
File No is the unique database number in a Sesame instance for the File.
-
User Name is the User Name of the person who added the File to the Plate.
-
Date And Time is the date and time when the File was added to the Plate.
-
File Name is the file name of the File.
-
User Label is the user label of the File.
-
File Type is the Lab Resources File Type of the File.
This saves the Plate as new in the database.

Make the Plate window active in the Board.

On the Plate menu click Save As New Plate.
Note

This will create a new Plate record with a unique Plate No in the database.
This saves the Plate in the database.

Make the Plate window active in the Board.
-
On the Plate menu click Save Plate.
Note

This will update the the current Plate record in the database.
This deletes the Plate from the database.

Make the Plate window active in the Board.
-
On the Plate menu click Delete Plate.
-
Click Remove Plate in 'Are You Sure?' popup.
Note
-
This will permanently delete the Plate from the database.
-
A Plate used by a Sesame item can not be deleted. Otherwise, the data
consistency of the records using the Plate would be violated.
-
To prevent users to select a Plate instead of deleting it,
the Choosable field should be unchecked.
This reverts the data for the Plate to the version in the database.
-
Make the Plate window active in the Board.
-
On the Plate menu click Refresh Plate.
Note
-
This will reload the Plate from the database.
-
If the content of the View has been modified since the last Save operation, the user will be given an option to proceed and discard the changes, or to cancel the operation.
This clears the Plate data, i.e. the bottom part of the Plate window.

Make the Plate window active in the Board.
-
On the Plate menu click Clear Plate.
Note

The View will be initialized with the default data.
-
If the content of the View has been modified since the last Save operation, the user will be given an option to proceed and discard the changes, or to cancel the operation.
This closes the window.

On the Plate menu click Close Plate, or click the X button on the window's Title bar.

On the Search menu click By Owner.

Set the search criteria in 'Search by Owner' popup.

Owner is the User Name of the person who created the Plate.
'*' and '?' wild characters are allowed.
-
Plate Name is the name of the Plate.
'*' and '?' wild characters are allowed.

Makers No is the manufacturer's identifier for the Plate.
'*' and '?' wild characters are allowed.

Type is the Lab Resources Type of the Plate.
-
Status is the Lab Resources Status of the Plate.
-
Choosable marks if the Plate is selectable in other Views.

Click Search in the search popup.
Note

The AND logical operator is used between the search criteria,
i.e. only those Plates will be returned that fit all of them.

To exclude a search criteria, set it to an '*'.
-
If an '*' is in every field, all the Plates will be returned.
-
To open a returned Plate, click on it in the upper part of the Plate window.
This searches the Plate records of the Default Lab and returns the ones
that fit the search criteria in the upper part of the Plate window.

Make the Plate window active in the Board.

On the Search menu click By Date.

Set the search criteria in 'Search by Date' popup.

Created By is the User Name of the person who created the Plate.
'*' and '?' wild characters are allowed.

Created Start Date is the earliest date the Plate was created.
To set this field to an '*', click on it, then clear, or,
enter an '*' into, any of the Year, Month or Day fields.

Created End Date is the latest date the Plate was created.
To set this field to an '*', click on it, then clear, or,
enter an '*' into, any of the Year, Month or Day fields.

Modified By is the User Name of the person who last modified the Plate.
'*' and '?' wild characters are allowed.

Modified Start Date is the earliest date of the last modification of the Plate.
To set this field to an '*', click on it, then clear, or,
enter an '*' into, any of the Year, Month or Day fields.

Modified End Date is the latest date of the last modification of the Plate.
To set this field to an '*', click on it, then clear, or,
enter an '*' into, any of the Year, Month or Day fields.

Type is the Lab Resources Type of the Plate.

Status is the Lab Resources Status of the Plate.

Click Search in the search popup.

DB# List is the list of Plate Nos.
The numbers in the list can be separated by space, tab, comma, semicolumn, or end of line.
Alternatively, if there are DBNo List (LI) records for Plates, they can be selected from the dropdown list.

Click Search in the search popup.

If the DB# List is empty, or contains an '*', all the Plates will be returned.

To open a returned Plate, click on it in the upper part of the Plate window.
This creates a Text report for the Plate, and shows it in the Board.

Make the Plate window active in the Board.
-
On the Report menu click Report.
Note
-
The generated report for the selected Plate will be in a Text Report
window in the Board.
This creates a Text report for every Plate in the Default Lab
and saves it to the disk.

Make the Plate window active in the Board.

On the Report menu click Text Report All.

If you want to save the file in a different folder, locate and open the folder.
-
In the File Name box, type a name for the file.
-
Click Save.

The file created on the disk will contain the text reports for every Plate
in the Default Lab.

This menu item is enabled for the Lab Master, or, for a Lab Member with a Can Do privilege.

The Can Do Resource value is XML_PLATE.
This creates an XML dump for the Plate record, and saves it to the disk.

Make the Plate window active in the Board.

In the Report menu click Record XML Dump.
-
Set the values in 'XML Report' popup.
-
Inline DTD determines if the Document Type Definition (DTD) should be included in the file.
-
Formatting (indents and newlines) determines if the resulting file should be formatted.

File Name is the name of the file. To set it, click on the field,
then set the values in the 'Save' popup.

If you want to save the file in a different folder, locate and open the folder.

In the File Name box, type a name for the file.

Click Save.

File if only the selected Image will be added.

Folder if all the Images from the selected Folder will be added.

Folder with Subfolders if all the Images from the selected Folder and
all the Subfolders will be added.

File Name is the name of the file or folder depending on the selected Format.
To set it, click on the field, then set the values in the 'Select Image' popup.

In the Look in list, click the drive or folder that contains the
Images you want to add.

In the folder list, locate the folder that contains the Images,
and if the Format is File, open it.
-
Click the Image if the Format is File, otherwise click the folder.
-
Click Select Image.
-
Click Add Image.

Only Images of JPEG, PNG and GIF formats can be added.

The Image will be in an Image
window in the Board.
This opens an Image attached to the Plate using its associated application .

Alternatively, you can

select an Image (a row) in the Images field, then click on the
button on the
right side of the Images field, or

right-click on an Image (a row) in the Images field.

Click OK in 'Open with...' popup.
Note

Currently this option only works on Microsoft Windows and Apple OS X
operating systems.
This updates the User Label for an Image attached to the Plate.

Make the Plate window active in the Board.

Select an Image (a row) in the Images field, then click on the
button on the
right side of the Images field.

Set the values in 'Edit Image Information' popup.
-
User Label is the user label.
-
Click Update.
Note
-
The User Label will be changed only for the Image attached to the Plate.
-
The User Label of the other links to the Image will be not changed.
This saves Images attached to the Plate to the disk.

Make the Plate window active in the Board.
-
Select an Image (a row) in the Images field, then click on the
button on the
right side of the Images field.

If you want to save the Image in a different folder, locate and open the folder,
or, in the File Name box, type the name for the folder.

Click Save.

The Image will be saved in the selected folder under the name from the
File Name field.

You can save more than one Image at a time.

To select consecutive Images, click the first item, press and hold down SHIFT,
and then click the last item. To select nonconsecutive Images, press and
hold down CTRL, and then click each item. To select all Images, click on an Image,
then use keyboard shortcut CTRL+A.
This removes an Image from the Plate.

Make the Plate window active in the Board.

Select an Image (a row) in the Images field, then click on the
button on the
right side of the Images field.

Click Remove Image in 'Are You Sure?' popup.
Note

If an Image is attached, i.e. linked, to multiple records, this will remove
the Image, i.e. the link, only from the current record, and the Image
will be not deleted.

The Image will be deleted permanently if and only if it is attached to only
one record.
-
You can remove more than one Image at a time.
-
To select consecutive Images, click the first item, press and hold down SHIFT,
and then click the last item. To select nonconsecutive Images, press and
hold down CTRL, and then click each item. To select all Images, click on an Image,
then use keyboard shortcut CTRL+A.

If more the one Image was selected, in 'Are You Sure?' popup click Yes To All
to delete all of them, or, click Yes for those you want to delete,
and No for those you do not want to delete.

Only the user who attached the Image to the Plate, i.e. the user form the
User Name field, can remove it.
-
When the Plate is deleted, all the attached Images will be deleted.
This adds an Image already attached to a record to the Plate.

Make the Plate window visible in the Board.
-
Make the other window that contains the record that has the Image already
attached active in the Board.
-
Select an Image (a row) in the Images field of the other record,
then drag and drop it to the Plate window's Title bar.

To open the Plate window in the Board,
on the Options menu select Lab Resources then click Plate.

This Lab Resource is maintained by the Lab Master, or, by a Lab Member with
a Can Do privilege.

The Can Do Resource value is LAB_RSC_PLATE.
-
The upper and bottom part of the Plate window can be resized by dragging the divider between
the two parts.
